MARBLE EASTER EGGS

Ich bin ja eigentlich nicht so ein Oster-Fan. Ostereier suchen fand ich schon als Kind anstrengend und da ich auch nicht wirklich die Schokolade mag, gab es für mich nie wirklich großen Spaß. Doch dieses Jahr hatte ich Lust darauf, Ostereier zu färben. Doch statt „normalen“ Farben, sollte es etwas verrückteres und auch etwas schickeres sein. Mehr Deko 😉 Daher habe ich mich dazu entschieden, Marmor Ostereier zu machen. Das Tutorial habe ich auf Pinterest gefunden und da es so einfach war, wollte ich es gerne hier teilen.

I’ve never been a real easter fan. I always hated the Easter egg hunt as a kid and since I don’t really like the chocolate either, it was never much fun for me. However, this year I wanted to do some coloured Easter eggs. BUT I did not just want to colour them normally but to do something crazy and a bit more stylish. More decorative 😉 So I decided to do marble Easter eggs. I found the inspiration and tutorial on Pinterest and as it was so easy to do, thought I’d share it here.

How to: Marble Easter Eggs

Alles was ihr braucht: Eier, Schüssel, Wasser, Plastik- oder Müllbeutel, Nagellack – idealerweise 2-3 verschiedene Farben, es gehen natürlich auch mehr.

All you need: eggs, bowls, water, plastic or trash bag, nail polish – ideally 2-3 different colours but you can also add more.

Step 1: Eier kochen – Cook the eggs

Wenn die Eier nicht gegessen werden sollen, kann man sie natürlich auch ausblasen, dann halten sie länger.

If you don’t want to eat the eggs you can also blow out the eggs so they stay fresh longer.

Step 2: Schüssel mit Müllbeutel bedecken – Line bowl with plastic bag

Dieser Schritt ist optional, allerdings zu empfehlen, damit die Schüssel nicht schmutzig wird. Einfach eine Müll- bzw Plastiktüte über die Schüssel stülpen und anschließend mit Wasser befüllen. Achtung: das Wasser darf nicht zu warm sein.

This step is optional, however I definitely recommend it so your bowl doesn’t get dirty. Just put a plastic- or trash bag over your bowl and fill it with water. Beware: the water shouldn’t be too hot.

Step 3: Nagellack ins Wasser geben – Add nail polish to the water

Nun langsam und nach und nach ein paar Tropfen der verschiedenen Nagellacke in das Wasser geben. Achtung: beim reingeben der Nagellacke darauf achten, nicht zu viel hineinzugeben, da es sonst klumpig wird. Je nachdem, kann man auch die Farben wiederholen.

Now add slowly and carefully a few drops of each different nail polish into the water. Be careful, not to add too much of the nail polish as this will lead to a clumpy outcome. If you feel you need more, add the colours once more.

Step 4: Nagellack vermischen für den Marmor Effekt – Mix the nail polish for the marble effect

Als nächstes mit einem Zahnstocher oder Ähnlichem die Nagellackfarben vermischen um den Marmor-Effekt zu kreieren. Hier kann man seiner Kreativität alle Freiheit lassen und Muster erstellen, wie es einem am besten gefällt.

Then mix the nail polish colours with a toothpick or a similar object to create the marble effect. Here you can be as creative as you like and create a pattern you like.

Step 5: Eier färben – Colour the eggs

Um die Farben und Muster nun auf das Ei zu bekommen, einfach das Ei langsam und vorsichtig in die Nagellackfarbe auf der Wasseroberfläche geben. Der Nagellack legt sich dann direkt um die Eierschale und färbt so das Ei. Am besten geht es mit weißen Eiern.

To get the colours and patterns onto the egg, dip it slowly and carefully into the nail polish at the water surface. The nail polish will instantly cling to the egg shell and thus create the marble effect. It works best with white eggs.

Step 6: Restlichen Nagellack entfernen – Remove access nail polish

Bevor das Ei herausgeholt wird, den restlichen Nagellack auf der Wasseroberfläche entfernen. Geht ebenfalls ganz einfach mit einem Zahnstocher.

Before removing the egg, remove the access nail polish on the water surface. This again can be easily achieved with a toothpick.

Step 7: Ei herausholen & trocknen lassen – Take out the egg & let it dry

Zum Schluss das Ei vorsichtig aus dem Wasser herausholen und auf einem Backpapier über Nacht trocknen lassen. Nun den Vorgang wiederholen – das Wasser kann das gleiche bleiben, da man es ja sauber gemacht hat. Wenn alle Eier mit den gleichen Farben gefärbt werden sollen, kann man auch mehr Nagellack ins Wasser geben und an verschiedenen Stellen die Eier ins Wasser und den Nagellack tunken.

At the end carefully take out the egg from the water and put it on a piece of baking paper to let it dry – ideally over night. Now repeat the process. You can reuse the water, as you’ve cleaned it previously. If all eggs should have the same colours, you can add a bit more nail polish to the water and put several eggs into the water at different areas.
