PARTNACHKLAMM

Wie ihr ja bereits wisst, hat mich das Wanderfieber komplett gepackt. Doch in den letzten Wochen kam irgendwie immer etwas dazwischen. Diesen Samstag hat es allerdings endlich mal wieder geklappt!

Nachdem die letzte Tour, hinauf zum Heimgarten, doch recht anspruchsvoll und vor allem zeitaufwendig war, hatte ich mir für dieses Wochenende eine etwas leichtere Wanderung ausgesucht: Durch die Partnachklamm zum Eckbauer und zurück.

As you guys already know, my newest obsession is hiking. But the last few weeks have been super stressful and I never had the time. Luckily this Saturday I was able to finally head back up a mountain.

Since the tour to the Heimgarten was rather long and difficult, I decided to take it slow this time and only go on a short hike. So I went to the Partnachklamm and up to the Eckbauer Mountain.

Der Weg zur Partnachklamm, von München aus, ist recht simpel: Einfach die A95 Richtung Garmisch, bis es nicht mehr geht, dann auf der Landstraße immer gerade aus weiter. Irgendwann wird das Skistadion von Garmisch ausgeschildert und dort partk man dann auch.

Zu Fuß geht es dann an der Sprungschanze und dem Stadion vorbei, eine Straße hinunter, die direkt auf die Partnachklamm zuläuft.

Getting to the Partnachklamm is pretty easy if you start in Munich. All you have to do is take the freeway A95 in direction to Garmisch and follow it until it ends, then keep going on the country road until you see the first signs leading to the Olympic ski station. That’s where you can park too.

Passing the station and the ski jump, you follow a road leading directly to the Partnachklamm.

Angekommen an der Klamm, zahlt man den Eintrittspreis von 4€ und sollte sich noch schnell warm anziehen: denn nun wird es feucht. Die Klamm ist ein Naturschauspiel vom feinsten. Man läuft oberhalb des tosenden Partnach Gebirgsbaches und unterhalb von 80m hohen Felswänden der Grotte. Der Blick nach oben ist genauso schön, wie der nach unten.

Durch Höhlen, in denen die Handytaschenlampe gut zum Einsatz kommt und vorbei an Wasserfällen, dauert es ca 20-30 Minuten den 247m lange Tunnel zu durchqueren. Je nachdem, wie viele Fotos man macht und wie voll es ist.
Man sollte sich definitiv Zeit lassen, um die Aussicht zu genießen und vor allem vorsichtig sein, denn in der Klamm ist es nicht nur kalt, sondern auch nass und dementsprechend rutschig.

When you arrive at the Partnachklamm, you pay an entrance fee of 4€ and should put on a warmer jacket, because it will get damp and cold. The Partnachklamm is a breathtaking spectacle of nature. You walk along the roaring mountain stream Partnach and underneath 80m high cliffs of a grotto. Don’t forget to look up, as well as looking down, since the view is beautiful in both ways.

You will pass little caves, in which your phone torch will be highly appreciated. The walk through the 247m tunnel takes 20-30 minutes – depending on how many pictures you take and how many people there are.
Take your time in there, it is worth being a little slower and taking in everything. Plus since it is so wet, the pass is rather slippery – so be careful!

Einmal heraus aus der Klamm, blickt man auf die weiterlaufende Partnach und erhasscht einen ersten Blick auf diverse Berge.

Von dort kann man sich nun aussuchen, wo man hin möchte. Ob einfach wieder zurück, auf den Schachen oder wie ich, auf den Eckbauer.
Die Wanderung zum Eckbauer dauert kanppe 1-1 1/2 Stunden und ist gut zu meistern.

Out of the Partnachklamm, you have another beautiful view on the mountain stream Partnach and you can already spot different mountains.

Now it’s up to you to decide where to go from there. Whether it’s heading straight back, going on the Schachen or, as I did, to the Eckbauer.
The hike up to the Eckbauer is very nice and not too difficult. It takes between 1 and 1 1/2 hours to arrive on the top.

Oben angekommen, kann man auf 1237m gemütlich eine Pause einlegen und die Aussicht auf Zugspitze, Alpspitze, Wettersteinwand und das Karwendelgebirge genießen.

Wer nicht weiter laufen will, kann eifnach die Eckbauerbahn nehmen, die direkt zum Parkplatz am Skistadion führt. Alternativ kann man ein Stück wieder hinunter laufen und am Graseck in die Graseckbahn und von dort abfahren.
Oder man läuft nochmals alles hinab und kommt wiederholt in den Genuss, die Partnachklamm zu durchlaufen.

Arriving at the top of the Eckbauer at 1237m you can take a little pause and enjoy the view over the several mountains, such as the Zugspitze, Alpspitze, Wettersteinwand and the Karwendelgebirge.

If you are too tired to walk back down, just take the Eckbauer cable car – it goes directly to the Olympic ski station. Another possibility is to hike down until you reach the Graseck, where another cable car awaits you. Or make the complete hike downwards and once again enjoy the Partnachklamm.
